Aloha! Do you have it?

Aloha
[Alo = presence, front, face] + [hâ = breath]
“The presence of breath.”

Almost anyone can say at least one Hawaiian word, Aloha! But do people in general really understand the significance and meaning behind the word? Probably not. Hawaii is known as the “Aloha State.” Many companies have it in their name and also have “Aloha Friday” where employees may dress more casually. Not only is it a greeting used to say hello and goodbye, but it also means love, affection, compassion, mercy and peace. Aloha is a way of living and treating each other with love and respect. Its deep meaning starts by teaching us to love ourselves first and afterwards to spread the love to others. The Spirit of Aloha is sending and receiving a positive energy, living in harmony. When you live the Spirit of Aloha you create positive feelings and thoughts.

Maybe this is why Hawaiians are so laid back and friendly! No wonder everyone loves visiting Hawaii for vacation, not only does it have beautiful scenery, the perfect weather and tons of fun things to do, but the people are nice and friendly spreading aloha everywhere and to everyone they meet!

So even if you’re not in Hawaii or planning a vacation anytime soon, strive to live the Spirit of Aloha and spread the love to others!
